Who should you refer?
Camp to Belong Colorado
Camp To Belong Colorado-Camp is for sibling groups of any size from 8-18 years of age. The siblings should be separated and can come from any combination of homes, such as foster care, group home, kin provider, adoptive home, or biological parent. Camp is also appropriate to support siblings that are trying to be maintained in the same home.
Connecting events are day activities that can include sibling groups and individual kids. If you have a youth in foster care who could use extra support and activities with other kids, our connecting events might be just what you are looking for. If you have a sibling group who would like to see each more frequently, Connecting Events are a great opportunity to support the sibling bond. Sibling groups who attend Connecting Events will be welcomed with open arms to Camp To Belong Colorado. Connecting Events are for youth 7 and beyond emancipation.
The workshops are led by the talented PJ Sykes, himself an alumni of the foster care system and spoken word poet. PJ creates a safe, nurturing environment for each youth to write and perform their spoken word. For those that want to raise awareness of what youth in foster care experience, they may present their work at our annual Poetry Jam each year in May, which is Foster Care Awareness Month. There is no minimum or maximum age for participating or performing. Any participant under 18 will need legal guardian written permission to perform in the Poetry Jam.
