JEREMY IS CURRENTLY ON HOLD
Jeremy hopes to be famous one day! An outgoing and likable teen, he adores spending time outside playing basketball or football, skiing down the slopes, or hiking new trails. When it's time to choose a restaurant, Jeremy often opts for Subway, and also enjoys spaghetti and meatballs. Black and red are his preferred colors, and he is fond of listening to music and watching movies to relax.
As a ninth-grader, Jeremy is academically on track and forms positive relationships with adults and peers!
We will have at least two writing workshops per month leading up to the poetry jam. You may participate in writing workshops without performing in the poetry jam. In preparation for the poetry jam, youth participants are required to attend at least two writing workshops and the rehearsal on May 21st, 2019. Food and incentives will be provided for participation! Poetry slam participants will earn a $50.00 VISA gift card for their participation as well as receive a complimentary gift on behalf of elevating connections!
First Days with a New Foster Child
For many parents, fostering a child is a dream come true. You may have rosy visions of how the child will mesh perfectly in your family. While this is probably true, it also takes time to get there. For many children in the foster system, they have lived uncertain lives. Perhaps their own parents haven’t always been present, making them distrustful of adults.
Not only that, but they may have left a home where they were ignored, or worse abused. The child might be separated from siblings and struggling with leaving everything they’ve ever known. All of this requires a transition period. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do in the first days home that will ease this transition time.
